Scott D. Danahy is a partner with Garganese, Weiss, D’Agresta & Salzman, P.A. He has a diverse civil litigation practice which includes handling first party insurance, premises liability and insurance defense claims, insurance coverage issues, employment law matters, and civil rights defense in state and federal court. Mr. Danahy also has experience handling products liability, professional liability, and education law claims. He also advises post-secondary institutions and corporate clients on a wide variety of matters, including contract negotiations, risk management, and compliance issues.

Mr. Danahy has presented several seminars, including “Premises Liability and Risk Management,” “Practical Tips for Avoiding Legal Malpractice Claims,” and “Understanding the Claims Made and Reported Policy.” He served for many years as an adjunct professor at the University of Central Florida, where he taught Sports Law. Mr. Danahy also previously served on the Board of Directors for the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando, where his duties included handling media relations for the Butkus Award, presented annually to the most outstanding linebacker in college football. Mr. Danahy has served for a number of years as a member and chairperson of the School Advisory Council for Northlake Park Community School.

Mr. Danahy received his Bachelor of Arts from Florida State University, and graduated with high honors from the Florida State University College of Law. Mr. Danahy won several awards competing for the Florida State College of Law Trial Team. While in law school, he authored the article “License to Discriminate: The Application of Sovereign Immunity to Employment Discrimination Claims Brought by Non-Native American Employees of Tribally Owned Businesses,” 25. Fla. St. Law Review 679 (1998).

Prior to beginning his legal career, Mr. Danahy worked for several years as a reporter, primarily covering college sports and state politics. He wrote as a correspondent for numerous publications including The Miami Herald, The Tampa Tribune, The Associated Press, and The Tallahassee Democrat. Mr. Danahy also worked as an associate producer for the local CBS affiliate WCTV in Tallahassee Florida and as a play-by-play announcer on college and high school athletic events for several local radio stations.

In his spare time, Scott enjoys fishing, trying to learn how to play golf, and spending time with his wife, Dina and son, Connor.
